LODGING:

We look for thoughtfully selected local lodges and B&Bs. Clean and comfortable with upgraded rooms wherever we stay for two nights. You’ll get everything from simple local places to beautiful fine-wood cabins. Rooms are booked as double occupancy unless you want to pay extra for an individual room (single supplement).

FOOD & DRINK:

A Costa Rican staple, the almighty “casado” fuels us most days. Rice, beans, plantains, salad, and your choice of meat or vegetables. While the local diet is primarily meat-based, vegetarians won’t have a hard time finding good options in Costa Rica. Look for fresh fish while we’re on the coast.

FLIGHTS:

6-day: Arrive San Jose (SJO), depart either Liberia (LIR) or San Jose (SJO)

9-day: Arrive San Jose (SJO), depart San Jose (SJO)

DAILY ITINERARY:

After getting fitted to your bike, we’ll load up and head out of the city towards the coffee-clad Orosi Valley for our first ride: a really fun loop through coffee plantations and some classic farming towns.

Day 3: Nauyaca Falls
Easily one of the most impressive waterfalls in Central America, our lodge is a short hike from Nauyaca Falls. We take an time to explore this adventure-packed area: rappelling, hiking, caves, and an optional ride along the coast if you want to get more miles in.

Day 4: Tarcoles
A working fishing village where very few tourists go, we make our way up the coast with a stop at the famous Manuel Antonio beach to Tarcoles for the night. The best way to end the day? A gorgeous sunset boat ride through an estuary grove that’s home to one of the biggest populations of crocodiles in Latin America.

Days 5 & 6: Lake Arenal*
From one body of water to another, today we venture up into the beautiful rainforest hills north of Lake Arenal. Our destination is an amazing yoga lodge set on a huge garden property. Two days here to explore the area and an optional day of riding to visit Rio Celeste and swim in its mesmerizing blue water.
